About KWOC

KWOC (Kharagpur Winter Of Code) is an annual open-source program conducted by Kharagpur Open Source Society, IIT Kharagpur. It is a five-week-long program that runs during the month of December. It is aimed at promoting open source participation and helping students prepare for events like GSOC.

About Me

I’m Hardik Kumar, a second-year undergraduate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Vellore Institute Of Technology, Bhopal. I’ve experienced with coding for a few years and I love to try out new projects in my spare time. I strongly believe that Computer Science is the magic of the 21st century and coders are the magicians of the era!

My Experience in KWOC

KWOC has granted me tremendous learning opportunities of learning the
basics of git commands. I also had the privilege of meeting some of the highly motivated and enthusiastic people through my project. It was a bliss to see how everyone wanted to grasp the learning opportunities at the earliest and cleared up issues as soon as they popped. I’m blessed to have such a group to learn from for my winter and I’m thankful to KOSS for the same.

Summary of my work

I started off my KWOC contribution by adding a Splash Screen in a Pothole-Detection app. Soon, I started to make Github Repositories better by adding some Issues and PR templates. I contributed to the frontend of an app and also worked on some Readme files.

List of Projects I’ve worked on

Thanks to all the mentors for their immense support and guidance @utkarsh0702 @Nishant2907 and @anand-aman

It was a great learning experience for me. I want to thank KOSS, IIT Kharagpur for conducting this beginner friendly program. This program helped me to learn what open source projects are and how to contribute to them.
